I typed the BA flight number into Google and pressed refresh. Late. The little airplane symbol on the screen symbolised so much more. Arrival pushed back to 0610. I mentally calculated if she'd have enough time to get from LHR to her office before the start of the Monday London business day. Soho Grind coffee in hand. A quick bathroom change out of casual flying clothes & into professional attire.
I'd been watching the minutes tick up on the digital clock bottom right of my work computer screen realising the closer they got to 2 was closer to her arriving. It's daylight savings here. Only 2 hours ahead now. With the delay means she'll be landing just after 1600 my time. Further away. I hope she's well welcomed. That it's a good day to arrive in her other home. That the people there somehow make up for the distance from loved ones here. Because distance is only that. Its just geographical numbers representing miles. It's no different being one hour away or one day away. Either you're present or you're not. Time. The heart stays close regardless.
